Flat roofing starts beneath the visible finish

A flat roof is not meant to hold a permanent paddling pool. It needs a prepared deck, formed falls and a clear path to an outlet or gutter. We inspect the base before fitting the selected system, as movement, damage or uneven areas can affect the finished covering. GRP fibreglass forms a rigid, continuous surface. EPDM uses a flexible rubber membrane, while felt creates a layered waterproof covering. Each route has a different installation method and finish, so we consider roof size, shape, substrate and normal movement rather than treating all flat roofs alike.

Edges and outlets finished with care

Once the deck and drainage plan are clear, we prepare the surface and install the chosen covering. Upstands, wall junctions, perimeter edges and penetrations are common weak spots when they are rushed, so we complete them with the components and method suited to the system. Roof dimensions, access and the number of corners or pipes influence the installation plan. We also finish trims and check the route water will take from the completed surface. The result should be a coherent roof, not a good-looking middle surrounded by troublesome edges.
